I think Mr. Doctorow was right: Eventually Russia has to decide on which side Russia is. To pressure Iran into any deal with the US without giving a clear comittment to protect Iran against any future attack is nothing less than betrayal. We have seen all these US diplomatic moves in the Ukraine war. And what was the result: an assassination attempt against Putin and a never ending dirty war. As I have mentioned in previous comments: I am not a warmonger but after the threat by Trump to commit a genozide agains 90 million Iranians and no public outcry against this in the US Congress it should be definitely obvious: The US empire understands only one language: brute force. It is sad to come to this conclusion. But with the idea of bomibing a 2'500 year old civiliazation into stone age the US is no longer a member of the civilized world.

I am wondering about the rationality to risk the lives of 20, 30 persons for rescuing 1 person. What do you tell the families of the members of the rescue team when they ( members of the rescue team) have died? Furthermore if lets say ten members of the rescue team are missed does it make sense to send 300 or 400 men to rescue them. Etc. etc. This is absolutely irrational. Why should the life of the pilot of the F15 have more value then the lives of the rescue team? A professional pilot has to be aware that if he is in a mission to bomb a civiliasiton back into stone age he can't expect mery at all.
